About Laura Smith Dunaief

Founder and Chief Learning Officer

As a Director for Schwab Capital Markets, I led award-winning businesses in financial services before shifting my focus to Learning & Development. My business results-focus traveled with me, though. Thematically, my career is that of a “serial specialist.” I have managed sales, operations, call centers, organization-wide culture change initiatives, project teams, equities trading, and training organizations. While these roles are wildly varied, they’re all grounded in my strongest competencies:

  • Aligning team goals with the organization’s strategy,
  • Designing and building cohesive processes,
  • Developing and motivating talented, diverse teams, and
  • Fostering collaborative, inclusive cultures that drive creativity and growth

I use these to:

  • Develop managers’ and leaders’ competencies at all levels
  • Design diversity and inclusion programs that drive parity
  • Improve cross-organizational and individual communications
  • Identify where gaps exist between strategy and results and design programs to bridge these

I graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a B.A. in Organizational Behavior. I’m a Certified Professional in Training Management, and I hold (and facilitate) many certifications for training professionals. While in the financial services industry, I held Series 7, 8, 24, 55 and 63 licenses. I am an active volunteer with nonprofits that focus on developing the “next generation” workforce and providing opportunities to diverse candidates, including the Financial Women’s Association of New York and Opportunity 20/20.
